All of the money collected through our fund drive go directly to support the operations of our organization. The Lincoln Fire Company has eight vehicles to maintain. These vehicles consist of:
Engine 16-1 Engine 16-2 Rescue 16 Traffic 16 Squad 16-1 Squad 16-2 (Duty Officer Vehicle) Squad 16-3 (Duty Officer Vehicle) 1926 Reo Speedwagon Antique Firetruck
Just like the vehicles sitting in your driveway, we need to insure and maintain them so that they are ready when needed. The maintenance of our apparatus is led by our Chief Engineer and his assistant(s). Luckily, a few of our members are mechanically inclined and we are able to do a lot of work on the vehicles ourselves. However, some of the maintenance does require the assistance of outside entities.
The Chief Engineer also oversees the training of drivers. Each driver needs to complete a certain number of driving hours on a vehicle before being cleared to drive during emergencies. Additionally, drivers need to be familiar with the equipment on each piece of apparatus as well as how to operate the pump (on Engine 16-1 and Engine 16-2).
We appreciate the support of our community during our fund drive. Any amount that you are willing to give ensures that we are ready to assist our neighbors when needed. Help us, help you!
