This week's question is "Why are you the Lincoln Fire Company?"

While our organization was not officially chartered until 1906, records indicate that the organization was formed in 1851. At the time, we were called the Washington Fire Engine and Hose Company. The name switch to the Lincoln Fire Company occurred in the late 1800's. Our area of town was originally known as New Ephrata which was later renamed Lincoln in the late 1860's, a nod to the 16th President. At the time, the Fire Company also then changed it's name to the Lincoln Fire Company. The village of Lincoln was annexed into Ephrata Borough in the 1960's, but the area is still commonly referred to as Lincoln.

The face of President Lincoln and his name adorn our patch, our apparatus and even our turnout coats to this day.

Our Fund Drive is critical to our general operations. We know that times are tough for many of us, however, we ask that you consider donating to our organization. Any amount helps us, help you.
